This morning we hunted for photographs, passport ones but could not find them. I am sure the room eats stuff then regurgitates it once we are gone. Anyhow we took a wander and found a place for G to get another set done, then wandered to a little market and bought lychee's and dragon fruit, the latter which i am a huge fan of and the former I am getting acquainted with the idea of eating eyeballs.
Thor was rebuilt today and looking mighty fine mainly due to the packing antics of my bro and his amazing skills with polystyrene. After a tapas lunch we took a tuk tuk to the Russian Market
The sights, sounds, smells and sheer diversity of this market has made me want to come back here with a shipping container and fill it. We designed out loud living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and contents of wardrobes. The food takes some enquiring glances and head tilting to work out what it is and where it may have originated. This was an amazing experience and i am in a way glad that i am cycling because it limited my spending fervour to one shirt only. Another bag has also appeared over the shoulder of G. ummm....
We watched some of the guys packing up their 5' x 5' stalls and then headed off to the busier end of the city to take in the sights of Sisowath Quay or as described in many guides Cambodia's Left Bank. I did purchase a gift for G after a visit to one of the numerous silk shops but made the fundamental error of thinking that 'I really like that colour' meant 'I really like that in that colour'. A quick exchange to many giggles from the shop staff and I had righted my wrong. The promenade is wide and allows for the multitude of keep fit dance classes being conducted, some almost on top of each other which may have explained the irregular movements of the less gifted.
Dinner of loc lac in a small bar, and a pina colade that was so very wrong in every way. Needed ice cream and went to Chill in which we did for over an hour before wandering back past Wat Ounalom and a tuk tuk ride home.
Spoke to Nathan on the eve of his investiture at Cubs, hope he gets a decent woggle and all 'dib dib dob dob' statements sail over the heads of him and his fellow pack members. Makes me feel a little ancient.
