One voice - 'That’s how strong my love is'

Some people they call me crazy

For fallin' in love with you

They can take me and lock me away baby

Cuz there's nothing those bars can do

I'll be the rising moon after the setting sun

just to let you know you'll always have someone

I'll be the clear as day when the rain is done

So you'll always know

Through the shake of an earthquake

I will never fall

That's how strong my love is

Like a ship through the storm

we can risk it all

That's how strong my love is

I used to feel kinda lonely

Cause the world can be so fake

All it matters I'm tellin' you

It's you and me only

And the fortress from love we make

in the desert land

Just to let you know you'll always have my hand

She is the woman I need to make me a better man (ok i changed this line!)

These are some of the lyrics to an Alicia Keys song, just in case you thought I really had had a meltdown...we listened to it on our road trip south to take all of the 'stuff' that wasn't needed for the journey. That night as we lay there together she said to me the whole evening felt like we had been together for years. There was something just so unfamiliar and natural. We had a great dinner (and if you are reading this Jasmine - then I have to say that bake was awesome) and then talked about Norfolk, Somerset, Ivybridge, Germany, India, childhood, pets, pictures, heirlooms to be, haircuts, friends, family and so many other things. It may be a small thing for a lot of people but for us it brought us even closer together.

I have heard her voice today and I smiled. It was a seriously big smile. So I know how restless she is to get going, but visa aquisition for Cambodia has delayed them for a couple of days, I know how she is adjusting to a pace of friendship that is different to her. She is the sort of person to pour you an orange juice or make you a coffee because she knows you will want it even if you are not in the room, she is generous in spirit and deed. Well you know that or she wouldnt be doing what she is. Sally is built though and I am so pleased that the serious investment of 3 hours packing paid off, well there was the star wars battle using pipe wrap as light sabres for at least 10 minutes.

So sometimes it is just about a memory or hearing a voice that is familiar and hearing the smile that goes with it or the laugh. That is enough to know that the connection ands love is as strong as ever.

Today she made the local press in her home town, it is great article and will hopefully inspire others to support her on her journey. http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news/Eastbourne-cyclist-to-tackle-4000mile.6524994.jp

In other news hair is cut (not too short and will grow longer I promise),
Em's bike is built and we road tested it this afternoon.

She has moved up from 6 gears to 18 and boy did I forget how hard it is to coach from the saddle going uphill. But she made it and though there were tears when we reached home she gave me the biggest of hugs and said thank you.

So yes sometimes it is the things we take for granted that mean so much. We just need to be present or we will miss them and they will perish. The voice of someone we love, a hug or just a random act of kindness. These are the things that enrich our lives and make us so much more.
